Consultative Committee
A Consultative Committee has been established to provide advice to the Department of Water on the development of the Pilbara Regional Water Plan. The Pilbara Regional Water Plan is a component of the State Water Plan 2007.
The Committee was formed following a public call for nominations and comprises representatives from the following key stakeholder groups in the Pilbara. For each sector a minimum of one representative and a maximum of three were chosen:
- Non-mining water users;
- Environment;
- Indigenous;
- Water service providers;
- Mining users; and
- Local and regional development.
The Pilbara Consultative Committee will:
- Receive briefings, information and plan drafts;
- Seek out the views of a wide range of interests within affected communities; and
- Provide advice on the Regional Water Plan.
The Committee will hold regular meetings in Karratha and play an active and vital role in developing the Pilbara Regional Water Plan.
The Department of Water will chair the meetings and provide executive support.
